One day race » Liège › Liège 254.5km

Tom Pidcock placed tenth in the final monument of the spring after a tough day in the Ardennes.

The team were to the fore for the majority of the day, with Ethan Hayter and Michal Kwiatkowski putting in some big turns on the front of the peloton.

As the pace ramped up, Omar Fraile used his strength to keep the Yorkshireman at the head of the bunch. This proved crucial as a large crash blocked much of the field, but with the Grenadiers unaffected. Unfortunately, the good work was knocked back as Tom almost immediately punctured, resulting in a lengthy chase back to the now rampaging peloton.

Some strong turns by Ethan Hayter and Brandon Rivera proved key before Omar dropped back to pace the last few seconds for the Yorkshireman.

Into the infamous La Redoute and Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) would launch the decisive move of the day. Egan Bernal attempted to bridge, but was not quite able to close the gap.

Over the top and Laurens De Plus would put in several big efforts to chase on behalf of Bernal and Pidcock, before Bernal attacked again, whittling the chase group down further.

Into the final kilometre, and Pidcock navigated a hectic sprint well, to place 10th on the line, with Bernal in 21st, behind Pogacar, who won solo.
