ONE DAY RACE » ROESELARE › WAREGEM, 188.6KM

Josh Tarling produced a tenacious ride to secure sixth place at Dwars door Vlaanderen.

The day kicked into life with Magnus Sheffield lifting the pace some 72 kilometres from the finish, followed by Josh Tarling driving the pace over the top of the Berg Ten Houte, forcing they day’s favourites to the fore.

A rapid pace followed, and, when a massive crash ripped through the front group, the Grenadiers did well to avoid the worst impacts of the pileup.

The result of the incident saw the remnants of the group split into two, where Tarling would be forced to bridge solo in order to stay in contention.

The following 50 kilometres of racing were a brilliant demonstration of the young Grenadier’s dogged determination, being dropped multiple times and clawing his way back into contention on each occasion.

Inside the final 10 kilometres, and Matteo Jorgensen (Visma Lease-a-Bike) would attack solo, quickly establishing a gap that he would hold to the line. Meanwhile, Tarling would come home sixth, 44 seconds back.
