Ben Swift sprinted to third on the final day of the Tour of Britain.

A mostly flat stage through Suffolk looked, on paper, like a simple test for the sprinters. However, the wind had other ideas, with the bunch splitting in two along an exposed sector of the course some 90 kilometres from the finish.

The peloton would eventually stitch itself back together, but this served only to encourage the attackers. Much of the last 35 kilometres saw one break or another trying to stick, with all five of the Grenadiers off the front of the race at some point in the day.

Despite this, the race was held together for a bunch kick into Felixstowe, with Ben Swift navigating the finale superbly to place third.

He would also pick up the week's Overall Combativity prize, after a strong week of racing on home roads.
