Carlos Rodriguez will start tomorrow's final time trial in seventh overall, after a fighting display from the Spaniard on a tough day.

Rodriguez, who started the day sixth overall, found himself distanced near the foot of the final climb, with still some 13 kilometres left to ascend.

Aided by Jonatan Castroviejo, and latterly Laurens De Plus, Carlos dug deep to make his way up the mountain, eventually finishing 15th on the stage, 3'26" back on stage winner Pogacar (UAE).

The result would see Carlos slip to seventh overall, just one second behind Yates (UAE), ahead of a 33 kilometre TT test from Monaco to Nice tomorrow.
