Ganna sprints to fourth in rainy Croatia

Filippo Ganna sprinted to fourth place on stage three of CRO Race, in a day defined by the wet conditions. 

Such was the severity of the rain and the wind, the organisers took the decision to shorten the stage, and take the times for the general classification on the first passage of the finish line.

On the finishing circuit, Kim Heiduk worked hard to limit the gap to lone escapee Brand McNulty (UAE Team - Emirates), before ‘Pippo’ dug deep on the short, sharp final climb to escape with a group of around 10 riders. 

Negotiating the final, treacherous, 90 degree corner well, Ganna would launch his sprint to come third in the group, as McNulty stayed away for the win.

The neutralisation of the GC on the final lap saw Kim rewarded for his efforts too, as the German moved up to ninth overall.
