Ethan Hayter sprinted to eighth place on stage two of the Deutschland Tour, coming home as part of a chasing peloton.

The British champion crossed the line six seconds back on a three-man escape who pushed clear late on to hold off the chasing pack.

The result saw Hayter move one place up the GC into third overall, 21 seconds back on stage victor Mads Pedersen (Lidl-Trek) - the Grenadier remaining well placed heading into the race's final weekend.

The team were also in action in Spain at the Vuelta a Espana, with Carlos Rodriguez putting in a strong and consistent ride on stage eight.

The peloton were stretched to their limits over the late second-category climb, with a number of riders losing contact. In the end it was a reduced group that contested the finish in Cordoba, with Rodriguez safely amongst it.

At the line it was Wout Van Aert (Visma | Lease a Bike) who came to the fore to win the stage, with Ben O'Connor (Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale) retaining his race lead.
