Brandon Rivera claimed a superb victory on stage two at the Tour of Austria to move into the race lead.

The Colombian timed his sprint perfectly on the cobbles in Steyr, edging out Martin Marcellusi (VF Group - Bardiani CSF) to secure his first win for the INEOS Grenadiers.

Bonus seconds elevated Rivera into a seven-second overall lead with three stages to go. Magnus Sheffield was also present in a select lead group which crested the final climb in front. The American is also well placed on GC, fifth overall and just eight seconds back.

A heavy crash caused the stage to be halted during its opening kilometres. Kim Heiduk, Michael Leonard and Sheffield were all caught up in it but able to continue following a stoppage.

Filippo Ganna was well placed on GC heading into the day, but was also caught up in a crash ahead of the key final climb of the Porscheberg, dropping 34 seconds.
