Sheffield second on punchy finish

Magnus Sheffield battled to second on an uphill finale on stage three of Tour of Austria. 

Sheffield fought hard to catch a late attack by Diego Ulissi (UAE Team Emirates) who escaped a reduced bunch in the final kilometre and stayed away to take victory. 

Sheffield moves to second overall, one second behind Ulissi. who is the new race leader. Brandon Rivera is now two seconds off the race lead to make it two Grenadiers in the top three on GC. 

Earlier, good work from the team had brought back the early break and provided the platform to make the final selective. 

Michael Leonard and Filippo Ganna were able to pace the bunch and catch the escapees, before AJ August helped set a strong pace to deter most attacks on the short climb into the finish before the final.
